Car Strikes Building on Lakehurst Road

First responders work to assess damage to professional suites

A Lakehurst Road medical office's front entrance is damaged after a vehicle jumped the curb, took out a column and crashed through the front door.

Police communications reported a car had struck a building at 508 Lakehurst Road in Toms River, a one-story professional building within the Winding River Medical Park that houses a variety of medical offices, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday.

The Winding River Medical Park houses three professional buildings, and the damaged occurred to Building 2. The building is off the road in the center of the property.

Firefighters were requesting a technical rescue trailer to the site of the accident as first responders worked to assess damage to the structure.

At 11:30 a.m., contractors were already on the scene to repair the glass doorway which was completely shattered. A support column that held up the entrance awning was damaged, as was the brickface to a portion of the building.

The office was closed, and no injuries were reported, and the parking lot and roadway were unaffected to the three-building complex, not far from the Route 37 intersection.
