Car Slams Dump Truck Head-On In Toms River; One Injured

One man was hospitalized when a car slammed a dump truck head-on on Whitesville Road near Jumping Brook Drive Tuesday, police said.

The driver of the car, Brandon Burris, 25, of Monmouth Avenue in Manchester Township was flown by helicopter to Jersey Shore Trauma Center in Neptune, police said. Burris is being treated for leg and internal injuries.

At 1:30 p.m., the car was traveling northbound on Whitesville road when it entered the southbound lanes and then collided head-on into a southbound dump truck, police said. The truck's owner is George Harms Construction Co.

The driver of the truck, Chris Gratzel, was not injured in the accident.

Whitesville road was closed for about one hour during the accident investigation.

Traffic Officer Mark Nater, David Bartoshek and Robert Westfall are investigating along with Ocean County Prosecutors Office and Sheriff’s Department.
