Cause of Gilford Park Fire Undetermined

House destroyed by April fire

Investigators have not determined the cause of a fire that destroyed a vacant home in the Gilford Park section of Toms River this spring.

A Gilford Park single-family home on 406 Elizabeth Ave. suffered severe structural damaged after a . 

The incident was an extremely hot fire and caused exhaustion among the firefighters on duty, according to Toms River Fire District 1 Chief Sam Seaman.

Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention Chief John F. Lightbody says that the fire was ruled undetermined based on all of the information collected. The origin of the fire was placed in the left bedroom and the structure of the residence was unsafe, according to Lightbody.

The case will remain open under Inspector Kevin J. Esposito.
