Clerk Held Up in Route 9 Hotel Lobby

$100 stolen in Ramada incident

A night clerk at the Ramada Inn at Routes 9 and 70 in Toms River was held up 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, and police are looking for two white males who fled on foot with $100.

Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said one man approached the 46 year-old female night clerk in the lobby area and demanded money. The man did not have a visible weapon, said the police chief.

The man fled on foot after taking about $100. Mastronardy said it was unknown whether the money was the clerk's property or if it had been stolen from the hotel cash drawer.

Security cameras determined that two suspects were involved in the robbery. Footage is currently being processed and may soon be released, said the police chief.

Police are looking for two white males. One is 200 pounds, wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt dark jeans, black sneakers, black gloves and a black ski mask. The second suspect is 6’ 3” 185 pounds, wearing a navy blue sweatshirt, faded blue jeans, tan work boots and a ski mask.

Officers Ron Bayer, Chris McDowell, Dewey Unger and Sergeant Raymond Maloney are investigating. Anyone with information should call police headquarters at 732-349-0150.
