Police: suspect recently got out of jail

Police have arrested a man who they say was caught on surveillance video stealing a car from the IHOP restaurant parking lot on Route 37 in Toms River.

Timothy Beasley, 56, who resides in the Knights Arms Motel in Seaside Heights, was arrested on Wednesday for the theft, which allegedly occurred on Sunday, police spokesman Ralph Stocco said.

Beasley is accused of stealing a 1996 Silver Honda Accord from the parking lot while the owner of the car was inside the restaurant.

"The vehicle has not yet been recovered however Mr. Beasley was captured on video surveillance committing the theft," said Stocco.

Beasley, Stocco said, was recently released from prison on April 8, 2014 and is now being held in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail related to the vehicle theft charge.
