Ocean County grand juries' recent indictments

grand jurors recently indicted: 

• Robert W. Rochford, 52, of Seaside Park on charges of being an unregistered contractor.

Rochford agreed to do home improvement work at two Toms River residences and failed to provide the services, the indictment states. In both instances, he's accused of pocketing more than $500 from the homeowners for services not rendered.

Rochford was indicted on two counts of theft by deception and two counts of unregistered home improvement contracting, as he was not registered with the state Division of Consumer Affairs, the indictment states.

Rochford was released on a summons.

  • David M. Read Jr., 50, of Toms River on dealing in stolen property, theft and burglary charges.

Read broke into a Ridgeway Road, Manchester, home on Aug. 29 and 30 and stole more than $500 in jewelry that he then sold in Toms River, the indictment states.

Read was initially held on $2,500 bail but posted Sept. 28.

  • Nicholas Tracy, 22, of Beachwood on burglary and resisting arrest charges.

Tracy is accused of breaking into a Whitty Road home Oct. 26 then running from a Toms River police officer who tried to apprehend him.

He was initially held on $15,000 bail but posted the day of his arrest.

  • Christopher P. Viscel, 42, of Equality Court on an assault charge. 

Viscel restrained a woman on May 14 and assaulted her with a weapon, the indictment states. He was charged with aggravated assault and criminal restraint.

He was initially held on $10,000 bail but posted May 23.

  • Two Lanoka Harbor residents on a shoplifting charge.

Douglas S. Dunsmuir, 45, and Lillian M. Dunsmuir, 46, both of Hazelton Avenue, were arrested Sept. 8 at the Toms River Kohl's and accused of stealing more than $500 in jewelry and clothing.

Both are free on bail.

  • Jessica S. Hahn, 32, of Toms River on a possession charge.

Hahn was arrested Sept. 17 and accused of having heroin, the indictment states. She is free on bail.

  • Kevin Riddle, 18, of Shley Avenue on an eluding charge.

Riddle is accused of fleeing a Jackson police officer Sept. 26 after the officer had signaled him to stop, the indictment states.

He was released on a summons.

Daniel A. Damato of Berkeley on two counts of unlawful taking of a means of conveyance.

Damato is accused of taking a Nissan Frontier from a Toms River couple on Aug. 1 and a Nissan Altima from the same couple on July 14.

He was released on a summons.

  • Britanni N. Koppenjan, 20, of Lanoka Harbor on check fraud charges.

Koppenjan is accused of passing phony checks for $250 at two Chase Bank locations in Toms River on Nov. 22.

She was initially held on $30,000 bail, but posted Jan. 15.
