The Brick Township police Drug Enforcement Unit conducted an investigation which led to the arrests of two township women who they say possessed a multitude of drugs.

The arrests of Brittany A. Cassanovas, 25, of 17th Avenue, and Amanda M. Louk, 20, of Sawmill Road, came after detectives were granted a court order to search a vehicle which contained 549 bags of heroin, approximately 12 grams of crack cocaine, prescription narcotics, a scale, and $1,875 in U.S. currency, according to Sgt. Henry Drew.

Cassanovas was transported to Brick Police headquarters where she was charged with two counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of drugs and possesion of drug paraphernalia. She processed and released on a criminal summons with a pending court date, Drew said.

Louk was charged with possession of drugs and possesion of drug paraphernalia, as well as hindering apprehension. She was then turned over to the custody of the Toms River Police Department on an outstanding warrant issued by the Toms River Municipal Court.

A photo of Cassanovas was not available.

Treatment does not work...if it did then we could fix this easily. Stop with the liberal democrat mantra of "we need programs"

Hey WMS826 Programs would only work if the addicts go to them and stay for the help but most would leave and back to there old tricks ..But I do agree we need more to try to help the one's who want it ..Its a shame too many young kids hooked and are dying in this town...Sad for the families ..

How so these girls get released on their own recognizance and someone drunk and disorderly (no DUI just drunk and stupid) end up in county having to post bail? Joe Coranato is an excellent prosecutor and I can't see him allowing a judge to do this. They say they want to clean brick up but 500 bags of heroin is bound to end up in dozens of overdoses, hopefully not fatal. So if they didn't catch these girls it could be your loved one dead or in the ICU! The only rational is the girls just got there police informant #'s and are going to set up there dealer. Keep watching the BRICK PATCH because odds are one of these girls is gonna a) disappear b) be brutally beaten and raped by her dealer or c) end up dead in a shopping cart somewhere!! You don't let dealers out of jail easy, you let addicts out to go directly to treatment. WTF were they thinking on this one?
