Seaside Heights Stabbing Remains Under Investigation

Police: No new information; victim was treated and released

Police continue to investigate  that occurred early Saturday during an altercation between two groups of people in Seaside Heights.

Seaside Heights Detective Steve Korman said there was no new information to release on Sunday about the incident, where a 26-year-old man was stabbed in the back of the head during the confrontation, which happened at the corner of Kearney Avenue and Ocean Terrace.

"It is still under investigation," Korman said. The victim, whose name was not released, is from Clark. He was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he received stitches for a knife wound to the back of the head and was released.

Police are searching for a white male with a thin build, 5-foot-9, and approximately 18 years old, Korman said. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark-colored shirt and blue jeans. The altercation occurred at approximately 3:31 a.m. on
Saturday, and the suspect was last seen running west on Kearney Avenue, Korman said.

"The victim and friends were walking east on Kearney, and when they got to Ocean Terrace and Kearney something happened. There were two groups," Korman said. "The outcome was the victim received a knife wound to the back of the head. The victim and a friend ran south on the boardwalk to Sheridan Avenue where they came in contact with Patrolman Scott Keefe. We're still putting the pieces together."

There was no indication that the incident was gang related, according to Korman. The site is the same corner as the rented house for MTV's
