UPDATE: Fatal Route 37 Crash Under Investigation

Crash near the Route 37 Walmart caused one death, police said

Police are investigating a crash on Route 37 at the Walmart entrance Tuesday night that claimed the life of a Toms River man.

The 11 p.m. incident on the state highway, during which a car making a turn was struck by another vehicle, marks the third fatal crash in Toms River this year, said Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

"According to a witness, a Saturn was crossing Route 37 making a left turn onto Route 37 westbound when it was struck by a pickup truck that was traveling east on 37," Mastronardy said.

Wlazlinski's current condition was not immediately released by police.
