Firefighters Head to Children's Classrooms To Teach Prevention

Silverton Fire Co.'s fire prevention efforts extend to local classrooms

Silverton Fire Company volunteers headed back to school throughout the month of May and into June, to showcase some fire prevention tips to elementary school students.

Silverton firefighters trekked engines, ladders and hoses out to Silver Bay Elementary school, Westminster Nursey School, Ocean Gymnastics and elsewhere throughout Toms River, teaching young children about fire prevention.

Outfitted in complete fire gear, the firefighters showed how their big rigs worked, but also explained the importance of fire safety, including smoke alarms.
