Over Four Thousand JCP&L Customers Without Power In Toms River

Power restored to 12,500 following violent thundersorm

Now that's it's daylight Jersey Central Power and Light Company will be able to get a better handle on the power outage affecting 4,248 customers in Toms River Township, a company spokesman said.

At one point approximately 16,500 customers were without power following last night's violent thunderstorm, said Mike Obremski, a JCP&L spokesman.

The outages are scattered throughout the township, Obremski said.

"It's too early to make a call as to when power will be fully restored," said Obremski.

Four large trees down, big dent in quarter panel of car when large fence gate let go, busted up umbrella and patio table and several days of cleanup and large trees, 75 footers to cut up.Yuk! Cat is OK though! Neighbors very large tree took the pool heater and filter out. Other neighbor lost 9 solar panels. 75 mph winds? I think much more!

@ Karen Ann. Campbell: While being without power is a major nuisance, be grateful you DID come home from vacation, unlike the woman in Monmouth county who was struck by lightning while fleeing the beach. She never regained consciousness and died several hours later.

It took the crew 1 minutes to turn power back on at the end of my block, after we waited over 24 hours without electricity (and AC).

People spend money on vacations, nice cars in their driveways, tv's and computers and cell phones, but people won't BUY a generator for times like this ?
