Garage Fire Extinguished in Green Island

No injuries in the Friday night fire.

Toms River police responded to a structure fire 9 p.m. Friday at 11 Harbor View Lane in the Green Island section of the township.

The Pleasant Plains and Silverton Fire Companies responded and extinguished the fire, which started in the garage area of the ranch home, according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

The owner stated that his lights started to flicker just prior to the fire, police said

The owner told police that he was doing repair work on damage to his house from Hurricane Sandy.

There were no injuries.

Alot more of these electrical fires will be happening in the near future with the lack of electrical repairs being done , or done by untrained , unlicensed hacks !

Instead of going back and forth with this nonsense why don't we take a step back and congratulate the volunteer FD's who continually get the job done by putting their lives on the line for little to nothing in return.

Let us all be grateful no one was injured. Before we assign blame, can we wait until the facts tell us who or what caused the fire. If the cause of the fire is electrcal. And that cause is directly related to storm damage. Then in my opinion," what ever event that caused the electrical system to catch fire, should be addressed by building code regulations.
