Gunshot Rumor Untrue for Hooper Ave School

Police chief said incident was far from the school

Reports that emergency responders had arrived at Hooper Avenue Elementary School to treat a gunshot wound there were untrue, police said Monday morning.

Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said the incident was actually no where near the school, which is used as a landing zone for medevac by helicopter.

The police chief said the gunshot was far from the school site in a private residence, where an occupant suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He declined to give the addresss.
