Holiday City Man Hospitalized Following Crash Near Walmart Entrance

Other driver issued summons following Thursday evening crash

An Island Heights man was issued a traffic light violation summons after a collision at the Walmart entrance Thursday evening that sent another driver to the hospital.

Troy Simcsuk, 34, of Island Heights, was traveling eastbound on Route 37 when the 2002 Chevy he was driving collided with a 2009 Toyota crossing the highway at 5:30 p.m., said Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

The driver of the Toyota, 67-year-old John Emick of Holiday City, was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune following the crash, according to the chief.

"Investigating Traffic Safety Officer Brian Doyle issued a summons to Simcsuk for a traffic light violation after interviewing a witness who stated the Chevy traveled through a red traffic signal," Mastronardy said.

There really should be a green arrow light leaving walmart to go left and also one leaving bj's to go left!

That light is the worst! I almost got hit by a mini van pulling out of Walmart who had a red light a few years ago. Don't really know what a solution could be to help...

It doesn't really matter when where you put a green arrow when you have people that disregard the red light and go right through it. Another solution would be not to shop at Walmart.

That was my grandfather who was hit. He is stable but in severe pain due to the t-bone crash breaking his ribs, clavicle, and bruising his lung. He is still in Jersey Shore. Maybe this idiotic driver shoulder STOPPED at the red light like everyone else and he wouldn't have hit my pop.

Tracy, he was not going left. He was in the BJ's lot crossing over to the walmart lot. The guy ran the opposing red light and crashed t bone style into his driver side and rear driver side panel and door.

Suz glad you're okay, but there is no solution needed. Obey the traffic rules and don't run a red light! Easy enough.
