Resident Seeking Help After Storm Affects Basement

Looking for assistance with repairs and water and mold removal

A Toms River resident who saw her home drastically affected after a heavy storm is looking for assistance with repairs after the basement foundation shifted.

The female resident, who is unable to return home due to damage there, is looking for someone to donate time and materials or provide repair services at a low cost, in order to fix her home.

earlier this month, the basement foundation shifted, leaving a gap in the home that ushered in water and mud.

With no power to the home, the cost of locating a generator and a sump pump or wet vac to aid in the clean-up and repairs is proving burdensome, said the resident.

"This is an emergency but I just can't do this on my own," said the resident, who asked to remain nameless. She said the emergency is compounded by attempts to work with her insurance provider and local aid agencies, but is turning up few answers.

As a result, she's asking the community for help, and hopes someone will come forward to assist a senior citizen on a fixed income facing a crisis at home.

She's been quoted by contractors that the job would take several hundred dollars, but her fixed income only allows for $100, and she's worried the repairs may never be affordable.

"I'm also looking for emergency housing," she said. "This is a plea for help. I don't know where to turn."

She's hoping anyone with an interest in helping or access to repair equipment can email cama4664@aol.com
