Hooper Northbound Traffic Slows in Silverton

Police say single lane closure between Polhemus and Kettle Creek

County road construction has closed one lane of Hooper Avenue northbound in Silverton in Toms River, police said.

Traffic is backed up in all lanes northbound through College Drive near but the single lane closure is in place at Polhemus through Kettle Creek, police said.

A detour is possible via College to Buckwald and then Church, but traffic is spilling onto the ancillary roads, as well as for traffic approaching Hooper from Fischer Boulevard.

It was unclear when the single lane is expected to reopen.

Hooper Avenue, also known as county road 549, is a main thorofare heading into Bricktown from Toms River, with two lanes of traffic in each direction plus right hand turn lanes approaching many intersections with jughandles.
