Hurricane Sandy impacted in ways never expected: It took away the old copper-based telephone lines in Mantoloking.

But instead of replacing the telephone lines, Verizon has decided instead to install a cell-based system, according to Chasing NJ on My9.

Richard Giordanella, a Mantoloking resident, told Chasing NJ he's is worried about how his parents will take the changes.

“Even my own parents love using the landline. They hardly ever use the cell phone, that would be the only problem area,” Giordanella told My9
