Four Indicted on Charges of Robbing, Threatening Toms River Man

Grand juries hand up indictments

Two men and two women are being held in the Ocean County Jail after being arrested on charges of robbing a Toms River man and threatening him with a weapon.

Steven P. Klimek, 34, of Toms River; Ronald C. Defreitas, 35, of Toms River; Darlene T. Roshop, 25, of South Toms River; and Hannah M. Cohen, 29, of Edison were arrested Nov. 7 and accused of breaking into a 1999 Oldsmobile owned by a township man, who Klimek threatened with a box cutter, authorities said. 

Klimek, Defreitas, Roshop and Cohen all were indicted on charges including robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary. Klimek also was indicted on charges of terroristic threat, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon by a convicted person (sexual assault).

Klimek and Defreitas are being held on $100,000 bail, no 10 percent option. Roshop and Cohen are being held on $50,000 bail, no 10 percent option.

In an unrelated case, Defreitas also was indicted on drug and hindering apprehension charges.

The Anthony Avenue resident is accused of possessing cocaine in the township on Nov. 14 as well as two charges of conspiracy to possess a controlled dangerous substance (heroin and cocaine). An alleged accomplice, Kelly A. Albanese, 46, of Toms River also was indicted on the possession and conspiracy charges.

Albanese was released on her own recognizance.
