Indictments: Residents Charged With Drug Offenses, Theft

Grand juries hand up indictments

A Toms River woman is free on $25,000 bail after police said she had drugs she intended on distributing in Seaside Heights.

Briana Ulker was indicted Thursday by an Ocean County grand jury on possession of cocaine and alprazolam charges after being arrested Nov. 28 in Seaside Heights. She also was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute in a public recreation zone, as she was within 500 feet of the Boardwalk.

Ulker posted bail Jan. 9.

Grand juries also indicted: 

  • Raphael J. Lewis of Barnegat was charged with three counts of shoplifting. Alleged accomplices Matthew Chadwick and Kevin Capote of Toms River were charged with two counts of shoplifting, while Kevin M. Schulz of Toms River was indicted on three counts.

Police said Chadwick and Capote initially took electronics worth more than $500 from the Target in Stafford on Sept. 14. The next day, Lewis and Schulz returned and again stole more than $500 in electronics, the indictment states.

Lewis, Schulz, Chadwick and Capote combined to steal more than $500 in electronics from Walmart in Stafford on Sept. 20, the indictment states. Lewis and Schulz then went back to Target on Oct. 3, stealing electronics worth at least $200, authorities said.

Lewis is free on $2,500 bail; Schulz on $6,000 bail; and Capote on $5,000 bail. Chadwick was released on a summons.

  • Michael J. Goodman of Bayville, Christopher C. Sullivan of Toms River and Joseph A. Roussell of Brick on drug charges.

The trio were arrested Dec. 7 in Brick and accused of possessing oxycodone, the indictment states.

Sullivan also was charged with possession with intent to distribute, as well as distribution of oxycodone in a quantity less than one ounce.

Roussell also was charged with tampering with tampering with physical evidence when they were arrested.

All were released on summonses.

  • Kevin M. Hofer of Toms River on theft, uttering a forged instrument and dealing in stolen property charges.

Authorities claim Hofer stole electronics, blank checks and cash from family members in February, then used two check with forged signatures, the indictment states. 

He also was charged with selling the electronics with Dominick J. Giglio, also of Toms River.

Hofer was released on $1,500 bail. Giglio was released on a summons.
