Outstanding Warrant Leads to Arrest For Burglary, Theft From Kawasaki Yamaha Dealership

A 33-year-old Toms River man was charged with burglary and theft following an incident at the Toms River Kawasaki Yamaha dealership on Route 37.

Mark Barber, 504 Foster Road, was first arrested on an outstanding warrant then further charged after police recovered over $16,000 in stolen property, including helmets, an all terrain vehicle and a dirt bike.

Police Chief Michael Mastronardy provided the following information that lead up to the arrest.

Officer Dan Herr was on routine patrol just after 11:00 p.m. Friday when he noticed a wave runner from the Kawasaki dealership, 3117 Route 37, that looked suspicious in that it appeared that someone had it moved and was preparing to return and steal it from the lot.

Upon further investigation, Herr discovered that someone had placed plywood on the median curb in front of the dealership for ramps to assist them in the theft of the jet ski and trailer.

Herr then observed a suspicious person on the north side of Route 37 by Foster Road. Officers Adam Koeppen and Eric Harris assisted Herr and located Barber hiding in the back of his home on Foster Road. Barber was then arrested on a $1000 warrant out of Sparta New Jersey.

After further investigation police charged barber with burglary and theft from Toms River Kawasaki when Police recovered the stolen property. Barber was placed in the Ocean County Jail on $35,000 bail no 10 percent.

Also investigating are Detectives Chris Fluck and Roger Hull and Sheriff’s Officer Eric Skieczus.
