Lakewood Shooting Ruled a Homicide After Autopsy

Victim was shot in the chest, autopsy showed

An autopsy of a Jackson man shot and killed in Lakewood Thursday night confirmed he was a victim of a homicide, officials said Friday night.

The autopsy on 24-year-old Kenneth Scott, of South Prospect Street, showed he died of a gunshot wound to the chest, said Ocean County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Al Della Fave.

The investigation into Scott's death continued Friday night, he said. No arrests have been made in the killing.

Police began investigating after they arrived at the High Point Apartments at about 9:53 p.m. Thursday for a report of a male with a gunshot wound, Della Fave said Friday.

Scott, the man who had been shot, succumbed to his injuries at Jersey Shore University Medical Center at 1:55 a.m. Friday morning.

Scott was killed just a day after celebrating his 24th birthday, officials said.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is being asked to contact either Lakewood Police at 732-363-0200 or the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027.

Callers can remain anonymous and all information will be kept "strictly confidential," said Della Fave.
