Man Arrested For Distributing 3,500 'Dosage Units' Of Heroin In Toms River Area

Shaun Anderson was charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute

An 35-year-old Essex County man has been arrested for allegedly supplying heroin within Toms River and the surrounding Ocean County area, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Shaun Anderson of Irvington was charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute.

Superior Court Judge James M. Blaney set bail on Anderson at $135,000 cash, and Anderson was subsequently lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

On Aug. 1 at about 7 p.m., Ocean County and Berkeley detectives executed a search warrant on a black 2004 Infiniti FX 35. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was allegedly used by Anderson to store and distribute heroin. 

The two partnering agencies located the 2004 Infiniti in the parking lot of the Wendy’s Restaurant located on Route 37 West near Bannanier Drive in Toms River, according to the prosecutor's office.

Detectives approached Anderson and advised him of the court ordered search warrant on his vehicle. The search located approximately 3,500 individual dosage units of heroin, along with approximately $2,200 in cash within the vehicle.

Anderson was subsequently arrested and transported to the Toms River Police Department for processing. 

The recovered heroin has an approximate street value of $14,000 dollars. The 2004 Infiniti was also seized pending forfeiture proceedings. 

Assisting in the investigation as well as the execution of the search warrant were members of the Berkeley Township Police Department, Detective Bureau and the Toms River Police Department, Operations Division.
