Man Briefly Missing From Ocean County Mall

Captain confirms elderly man was found at mall

An elderly resident was reported missing from the Ocean County Mall after 5 p.m., and was found unharmed shortly thereafter, police said.

The man's name was not released, but Toms River Police Capt. Steven Henry said local and county police were called in response to a mall security report of a missing individual.

The man was found on the mall property unharmed before 6 p.m.

Not really something to make fun of. The man could have alzheimers or something. It is a scary situation. Not many details here for a story, but still not really a situation to make fun of.

if he has a medical issue then he shouldn't be left alone in the mall... teenagers are not allowed to why should seniors that don't buy anything they just take up all the sitting areas so no one else can sit down ( & If you happen to get a seat & not them they look at you . like "aren't you going to get up for me" sorry, never felt this way about seniors but after 14 yrs in Ocean Cnty, you start to see the entitlement & rudeness they seem to have ( YES worse) than the teenagers ... Glad the man was ok , but what was he just doing? & Again if he has issues medical or mental then he shouldn't be on his own in the mall.

exactly!! thats my feeling towards the old people that come to the mall don't spend any money & want everyone to move for them. It had nothing to do with the way my parents raised me ( one is deceased & the other is a senior) However it has to do with the baby boomer that are now retired that have a feeling of entitlement .... sorry But its very true! how many times do you see them take the spots that are designated for pregnant women or parents with infants?... how many times do they cut you in line.?.. how many times do they asked for a senior discount becauses they are on a fixed income( meanwhile have more disposable income then working families)? How many times are they going to pull out in front of you to do 20 miles UNDER the speed limit, ? OR in this cases( waste) manpower & spending tax money because the guy forgot where he was or forgot to get on the FREE bus?... Honestly I was raised to to be very respectful to seniors & I grew up with my grandmother in our home, & would have done anything for her, Its just the mentality of the Seniors in this area that How DARE they think its ok to treat people the way they do disregard everyone & anyone around them & expect US to foot the Bill!!

Sunny.....let's hope that you never become a senior. You took a story about a missing man and turned it into your own personal soap box against seniors. I personally have never seen the things that you are describing. You must spend a lot of time at the mall. Would you be so cruel if a child had wandered away from their mother?? I doubt it.

I have a child with disabilities & I don't let him out of my sight , as should have not let this mans family. instead of you finding fault with what I wrote trying reading it .. I Did say I was glad the man was ok. & as far as going to the mall I go about 2x a year I hate going to the mall ... If you have not seen any of those things Iam talking about either ya live under a rock Or you dont get out much. i

I would be scared & upset if that was my father ( also a senior) BUT I would make sure he was not alone if he was able to navigate for himself. Glad the man was found safe. As far as Sunny ... I get where your coming from have lived in Brick for 15 yrs & they do try to take over all the shopping areas. & I too have ran into very rude seniors.
