Man in Ski Mask Breaks Into Gilford Park Home

Toms River Police looking for white male with a neck tattoo

A female resident discovered a man in a ski mask in her Buermann Avenue kitchen after she left the shower Tuesday evening. The man fled from the Toms River home after robbing $400 from the victim's wallet, police said.

Toms River Police responded to the 6:30 p.m. burglary, discovering the suspect had forced entry into the Gilford Park home, breaking in through a rear door, police said.

Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said the woman at home at the time was coming out of the shower, and saw a man in her kitchen in a black ski mask. The man fled on foot, running toward Route 37.

Mastronardy said the man stole $400 from the victim's wallet in the kitchen.

The man was carrying a yellow nylon bag. He is a white male with a tattoo on the right side of his neck, wearing a black ski mask, black gloves and blue jeans, Mastronardy said.

No injuries were reported.

Investigating are Toms River Police Officer Ted Maloney, and Ocean County Sheriffs Officers M. Scutti and T. Wielichoski.
