Man Leads Toms River Police on Pursuit, is Arrested for DWI

Toms River Police arrested a 25-year-old man for DWI after he led them on a pursuit Sunday evening, Feb. 24, according to police.

Thomas Hagadorn Jr. was charged with DWI, eluding and other motor vehicle charges after police were forced to pursue him following an accident.

The initial accident was described as "minor" by Toms River Police, and took place by Hooper and College Drive at 6:30 Sunday night. However, while responding to the scene, dispatch was informed that a blue Camero had left the scene, and was traveling south on Fischer Boulevard, police said.

Officer Frank Moschella located the Camero at Fischer and Overbrook drive, after the car hit a curb by Bay Avenue and was forced to stop, police said. However, as officers attempted to make contact with Hagadorn, he sped off at 50 miles an hour down south Fischer, police said.

He hit another curb at the East Dover Shopping Center and was forced to come to a complete stop. Once again, when officers attempted to make contact, Hagadorn sped off, this time doing 70 going south on Fischer, according to police.

The Camero hit another curb at Route 37 and Fischer, and the air bag was deployed as a result of the accident, police said. Hagadorn was not injured, but was quickly captured by Moschella and Sgt. Scott Moeller, police said.
