Toms River Protesters Seek 'Justice For Mocha,'…

Man Runs from Police After Mistakenly Thinking He Has Outstanding Warrants

Incident took place on Adams Avenue Monday

If only he knew he had no outstanding warrants, things might have worked out differently for a Toms River man.

Instead, the man fled police who were responding to a suspicious persons report. Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said the man bolted because "he thought he had oustanding warrants," but he had none.

The incident unfolded 5:30 p.m. Monday along Adams Avenue and Foster Road. Toms River Police Officer Michael Foy was investigating a report of two suspicious people, said the police chief.

The two men were found and questioned. Then, while Foy was checking the suspects, one of the men ran from the officer, jumping over a fence and into a backyard on Mystic Port Place, said the police chief.

He was found and the man was later identified as Nathaniel McMartin of Toms River. Officer Foy charged McMartin with obstruction and hindering apprehension.

Shortly thereafter, police determined there were no active warrants like McMartin suspected. Mastronardy said the man was then lodged on $1,000 bail in the Ocean County Jail.

First off Ptl. Foy is a good guy so the whole badge going to his head thing, Nah, Second @itagal if the Marshalls had a warrant for this gentleman it would have showed up in NCIC, it has nothing to do with " Dover Twp computer system." It isnt Toms Rivers job to update any wants or warrants, other then their own. Educate yourself. http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ncic/, And also I can tell you that you would be amazed by a police officers intuition, most people they deem suspicious, have some if not extensive criminal history.

Ok pal, I wasnt talking to you about Foy, AND you stated that ...."He was wanted by the us marshalls office..Dover township needs to get on the ball with updateing there computer system." I was simply letting you know that im sure TOMS RIVER police ran the gentleman for warrants, And had the Marshalls Office had a warrant for this fella, it would have showed up. And just b/c your dad was a cop doesnt mean you know what your talking about. Thank YOU!

Many Americans are out of work because of tax avoiding contractors & restaurants only want to pay cash to illegal aiens. Many Mexicans have more rights in a country that isn;t theirs than Americans who are out of work. These Unfunded Mandates [drug laws ] need to be revoked & then people who prefer drugs to the reality of the ,that the Sellout Congress has imposed on this country, will start to ease.Tha cop probably makes $100,000 /yr + benefits & vacation. An out of work American that used to make $30,000+ in construction is now scraping by getting assistance& food stamps.
