UPDATE: Man Atop Seaside Heights Roller Coaster In Police Custody

Police, emergency personnel are on the scene

A man who stood atop the wreckage of the water-drenched roller coaster near the Casino Pier in Seaside Heights Tuesday is now in police custody.

The man, identified as 38-year-old Chris Angulo of Lavallette, climbed aboard the ruins of the Jet Star roller coaster in an effort to call attention to Sandy recovery, according to News12.

State police and local authorities worked earlier Tuesday morning to get the man off the wreckage.

Looks like someone needs a tissue. Grow a set lady. If your boyfriend is "man" enough to be a fireman, then i'm sure he's just fine responding to this. If he can't handle things like this, then he's in the wrong field, and if you can't handle it then find a new man sweetie.

CLbrick..... Get a life. Fire department, dive team. That's why your boyfriend chose his profession. To go into action when its called for. Maybe he should have been a librarian or worked in McDonalds if he didn't want to risk his life. AND, its about time a flag was placed up there!
JerseyDevil January 9, 2013 at 03:34 pm
Awesome. What's up with them handcuffing the guy? What happens if the boat flips on the way in?
Chief Wahoo January 9, 2013 at 04:12 pm
if you think about it, by the police state arresting this guy for having GUTS and trying to send a message to rest of country that NJ Shore is NOT being helped......does the police state NOT want to be helped or do they agree with the guy ????????
Johnjcpa January 9, 2013 at 04:17 pm
Really? Overaged adolescent in a wet suit climbs a wreck and you equate that with people that actually defended the country and faced death while serving? There are flags flying everyday in front of VFW posts throughout the country, they are displayed properly with respect. This clown is not in the same league.

Exactly Cosma - you CAN'T own an ocean. Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. He should be on Diane Sawyer for an interview.
Evernotice January 9, 2013 at 08:54 pm
I think he owns the jetstar now! He climbed up there and planted his...err, our flag but I think he still captured it fare and square. Maybe it had to be at least 12 miles out?

At a time when people are expressing their anger, frustration, disgust, disappointment etc. by picking up an assault weapon, I consider this physical demonstration of will and determination to be a productive way to get attention. Maybe it's just part of the new normal...

I understand your beef government is useless ,Try to not talk like a street skank .By the way I risked my life during the storm rescuing people trapped in flood waters along with fellow rescuers , not surfing , there are many people alive & uninjured due too our actions .Please speak for yourself ,Make your point with strong words , not cussing up a storm defeats the point of sticking up for your friend.

The funny part about the whole thing was watching the police throw the Guy around in the boat to handcuff him when the Guy voluntary put his hands behind his back. Great job NJSP

I just read they charged him with disorderly conduct. Gimme a break. I still think it's awesome.
Penelope January 10, 2013 at 02:27 pm
Because they were embarrassed and pissed that this guy slipped through unnoticed, they took it out on him by roughing him up. They had to show who was in charge. Haha, too little, too late.
