A Leisure Village West couple arrested this week for robbery, prostitution, drugs and other charges ran a prostitution house in one of Ocean County's most popular gated retirement communities, police said.

During the investigation, police learned that approximately 600 vehicles had visited the Thornbury Lane residence during all hours of the day and night since August.

Thornbury Lane is located within the gated retirement community of Leisure Village. While the investigation lingered, multiple vehicles were observed coming and going from the Thornbury Lane residence.

On Tuesday, police received a call for a robbery. Information received from the victim indicated that contact was initially made through a website called backpage.co.

The victim then contacted Anne L. Donahue, 33, via the phone number provided on the website. The victim was then provided directions to the Thornbury Lane residence with the intent of receiving sexual favors in exchange for money.

After arriving at the residence, the victim was greeted by Anne L Donahue, who did not resemble the photos posted on the website. The victim then tried to leave but was forced by Donahue and Philip J. Cottone, 40, to pay the agreed amount before being allowed to leave the residence.

This victim also visited the website, made phone contact with Donahue, and then drove to the Thornbury Lane residence with the intent of receiving sexual favors in exchange for money, police said.

This victim also tried to leave when photos on the website did not match Anne Donahue and was forced to pay the agreed amount by Donahue and Cottone before being allowed to leave the residence, police said.

While Manchester Det. Richard Jupinka was preparing a search warrant for the Thornbury Lane residence, Det. Christopher Hemhauser and Det. Danny Barker located a second victim reporting similar circumstances involving Donahue and Cottone.

Members of the Manchester Township Police Patrol Bureau and Investigations Bureau then responded to the residence to protect and prevent any future robbery victims.

While at the residence Detectives executed a court authorized search warrant which resulted in evidence related to the charges, police said.

Detective Richard Jupinka charged Cottone and his girlfriend, Donahue, who were residing on Thornbury Lane in Leisure Village West with robbery, criminal restraint, theft, prostitution, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of hypodermic syringes, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After being processed for their arrests, Cottone and Donahue were remanded to Ocean County Jail in default of $150,000.00 dollars bail with 10 percent option.

Also assisting with the investigation were Detectives Jim Hill and Dan Roske of the Ocean County Prosecutors Office High Tech Crimes Unit.

I know a resident of that community and it's impossible to get into that development without stopping at the gate house. No one thought it strange that 600 vehicles visited a retirement home that many times??? Hmmm!

hmm for sure....are the guards sleeping on the job? seriosly
suz November 28, 2013 at 09:23 PM
Nobody seems to give a sh*t when it concerns a senior development...sad but oh so true. This has got to end somewhere, sometime.

it is definitly time these retirement communities started verifying the ages of the people living in the homes, one person at least must be over 55 per the bylaws. this group were 40 and 33.if this keeps up HUD will become involved and certain priviledges will be lost..

I am most amazed that the month of August is spelled wrong in the article. Terrible writing and editing.
suz November 29, 2013 at 08:16 AM
You are so right mike...HUD will have the authority to come into the adult communities and 'enforce THIER standards of living' if these communities do not abide by the rules. That would be a BIG mistake. My community is very strict (thank goodness) and checks every 2 years, by law, and who is living in the home. Also my neighbors are diligent and keep an eye out if something seems 'out of place'. The parents and or grandparents seem to be letting underage people live in their homes while they are either in Florida or nursing homes. Just wrong.

Hud Secretary and Obama shill Shaun Donovan has his hands full at the moment figuring out how to misappropriate the the 60 billion dollar Sandy Aid package. Protecting the Seizure Village johns is not a priority.

I'm to sure but if you don't live in the complex then you say your a guest or visiting someone shouldn't that send a red flag wow this family gets a lot of guests ? Why didn't guards see that and call security to check this out ?

Ages are wrong. Both are 40. Would love to know who actually owns the house. And what about the "victim", shouldn't he be charged with solicitation ? Weird story.

Soliciatator or solicitee?

Cardinal November 29, 2013 at 01:13 PM
Can adult children live with a senior in these developments? And after the senior dies do the children then get to stay in the senior village? That's probably what happened here.
Deep Throat November 29, 2013 at 01:44 PM
Prostitution in an adult community proves Viagra works. Though looking at her face I think you might need Viagra and a paper bag
suz November 29, 2013 at 03:03 PM
Not in my community, Cardinal. The children, obviously, do get the home, but unless they are 55+ they can not live in the home. They can rent, again, as long as the tenants are also 55+. I guess some communities are lax on this by-law. A big mistake for the HOA to not follow up, if that is the case.
mike mc November 29, 2013 at 04:18 PM
cardinal, suz's comment is right on target..SOMEONE living in the house must be 55 or older !!!
YouSuck November 29, 2013 at 04:33 PM
If any of the customers paid this thing more than 1 dollar they got ripped off. There are going to be a lot of penis's falling off people in the Manchester area
proud November 29, 2013 at 06:12 PM
Apparently, the suckers paid much more than a dollar and didn't get squat (no pun intended). They also didn't get a social disease, a wart, public lice, or a ticket. This is not to say they haven't gotten them before.
knarfie November 29, 2013 at 06:35 PM
after looking at her picture, after 600 clients, she earned $600 For sure a double bagger.
bob November 29, 2013 at 09:32 PM
One girl doesn't make a ring.
KC November 29, 2013 at 10:59 PM
The sad thing is that once upon a time this woman was probably attractive. The havoc that drugs and bad influences can wreak. Why are her cohorts in crime not pictured? This seems very slanted, misogynistic and just wrong on so many levels. Let he w.o. sin cast a stone. Just sad on so many levels.

All you old perverts are mad because now where are you going to go ? Proud is the most annoyed, he loved Ms. Donahue. If you check the surveillance footage you will see Prouds car entered 590 times !
Joey Joe November 30, 2013 at 01:24 PM
Looking at the picture of the "hoe" just reminds me that Leisure Vill truly is "The Lot Before the Plot." This "zombie" is only 33??? geez...
ShoreSure December 02, 2013 at 03:01 PM
If you think having a gate is security you are delusional. Anyone who wants to get in can. As for the guards, it is not their job to count how many visitors a person gets. If someone where handing out $10 bills would there still be an uproar? I think not. Yes, this is not an optimal situation but there is nothing illegal about a 'child' living with a parent in an adult community. Check the Megan's Law Sex Offender Registry; there are sex offenders living in LVW and in other nearby communities. Simmer down... this is not the end of the world and the only harm was to themselves and the users and Johns.
suz December 02, 2013 at 08:49 PM
I see your point, ShoreSure...however, this coming and going of strangers (and God knows who) brings an element into these communities that is unsafe for the seniors. If they are crazy enough to travel for sex they are already unstable, in my opinion. And, that, my friend, is wrong.
proud December 02, 2013 at 09:41 PM
Right, don't travel for sex or you're nuts.
ShoreSure December 03, 2013 at 06:17 AM
Suz, strangers are EVERYWHERE and nothing is stranger than some of these people who live in these communities. I often wonder what possible job did they do before retiring? As for traveling for sex, the worst part of that is their driving skills. I remember college and 'traveling'. The good ole days.
