Mathis Bridge Inspections to Delay Traffic Wednesday

Four brief closures expected

Officials are planning inspections of the Thomas A. Mathis drawbridge Wednesday, a process that will result in short closures that will likely delay traffic.

The Toms River Office of Emergency Management said a total of four closures will produce traffic backups for approx 10-15 minutes per closure.

There was no schedule provided of when the closures would take place.

"There should be about 4 closures today and it will be insured that traffic backup is alleviated before the next closure is initiated," a statement from the office said.

The Mathis bridge carries eastbound traffic from Toms River toward Seaside Heights.
