Minor Electrical Fire on Roof of County Building

Police Chief said emergency crews are clearing the area

A minor electrical fire was reported on the roof of the on Hooper Avenue, around 2:30 p.m. today, with no injuries and very minor damage, said Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

He said crews had already begun to leave the area. JCP&L had also responded to a minor issue on the roof, believed to be electrical in nature.

The incident was reported during an afternoon rainstorm. The county building was building four, at the government complex on Hooper Avenue near Chestnut Street. Although there are multiple buildings in the complex, building four was the only one affected. It houses one of the offices of the Board of Social Services, as well as several other tenants.
