Missing Woman Turns Up at Friend's Home

State police, Toms River police, fire companies searched for three hours

An 82-year-old Toms River woman was found safe at a friend's home in Berkeley Township after a three-hour search Friday night.

Family members told Toms River police the woman had walked away from a home on Kenton Drive in the East Dover section, Chief Michael Mastronardy said. Toms River police began searching for the woman, who suffers from some dementia, about 9 p.m.

Toms River Capt. Steven Henry coordinated the search, which included the New Jersey State Police Aviation and Marine units, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and county park security, as well as the East Dover and Silverton fire companies. Toms River Sgt. Keith Diehl coordinated a house-by-house search in the immediate area of the residence.
