Morning accident leaves vehicle overturned near Anchorage Plaza

The morning commute on Hooper Avenue in Toms River was snarled by rubbernecking, after a vehicle overturned near a convenience store parking lot.

Around 7:30 a.m. this morning a vehicle overturned at Hooper Avenue and Shore Drive, at the 7-11 near the Anchorage Plaza.

Firefighters worked to extricate the driver, who was reportedly the lone uninjured occupant of the vehicle which was resting on its side.

  • Scheduled roadwork on the Garden State Parkway is clear at 6 a.m. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority announced crews completing roadwork on the parkway southbound just north of exit 80. Work was scheduled for overnight Thursday into Friday morning.
  • Route 9 in Lakewood heading south into Toms River remains a late-night mess as road crews repave multiple lanes of the major highway from Count Line Road until Route 88 intersections. Motorists will find lanes marked by traffic cones and a low speed limit is suggested due to uneven payment, workers on foot, and lane repositioning are all part of the project’s ongoing phase.
