Motor Vehicles Parked On Road, Driveway On Bayview Drive Hit In Early Morning Incident

Driver charged with DWI among other charges

Toms River Police have arrested Joseph Karbowski, 23, of Estate Point Road for driving while under the influence, according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

The arrest was made after investigating an accident just before 3 a.m. on Bayview Drive in the Green Island section of the Township.

Karbowski was operating a BMW north on Bayview Drive when he first struck a Ford parked in front of 639 Bayview Drive, then traveled onto the front lawn of 641 Bayview Drive, where he struck the mailbox, a tree and a 2011 Honda parked in the driveway, according to police.

Officer Adam Koeppen also charged the driver, who was not injured, with reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.

Amazing! Drunks are never injured. He hit 2 cars, a mailbox and a tree! Too bad he wasn't smart enough not to get into his car and drive. They should throw him in jail and leave him there.

This is a young man that I know who served his country for 4 years with honors and accolades. He is a well respected young man who made a poor choice to drive after he had been drinking. He will have to live with the consequences.

I guess you wouldn't have made that comment, No Name, when this young man spent the last four years serving our country as a Marine, and was discharged with high honors. No one has the right to condemn and make such a comment, unless you know the circumstances behind the action! I just thank God, he is ok, and no one else was injured. Open up your mind, and your heart!!

Just because he was a Marine, doesn't give him the right to break the law. He chose to be a Marine just like he chose to drink and drive. Maybe you would think differently if a drunk killed family members like I experienced some years ago. He broke the law and should pay the price.

So that makes up for him being a tool? Nah.....

I agree.

What happens to drunk driving Marines while they're IN the Marines and do damage like that?? I don't think their superior officers give them many accolades for that.
