Toms River Motorcyclist Treated For Minor Injuries After Crash With Ford Focus

By Patricia A. Miller

A Toms River man received minor injuries after his Kawasaki motorcycle and a Ford Focus collied at the intersection of Route 571 and Commonwealth Boulevard late Thursday afternoon, police said.

Manchester police responded to the collision at 3:45 p.m. Amira Mohamed Ibrahiu Elhadidi, United Arab Emirates, Dubai, was traveling north on Route 571 and attempted to make a left turn onto Commonwealth Boulevard. Christopher Higgins, 22, Toms River was traveling south on the Kawasaki in the fast lane of Route 571 approaching the intersection of Commonwealth Boulevard.

The Ford did not yield to oncoming traffic while attempting to turn, which contributed to the crash, police said.

Higgins was treated at the scene by Quality Medical Transport. Elhadidi was not injured.  The  crash is under investigation by Patrolman Antonio Ellis of the police department's Traffic Safety section.

Manchester Police would like to remind motorists that May is Motorcycle Awareness Month.
