No Injuries Reported When Truck Snags Utility Wires, Snaps Pole

Philadelphia man driving when delivery truck caught wires Thursday

A delivery truck driven by a Philadelphia man snagged utility wires and downed a pole, causing detours in the area of Beechtree Drive and Kettle Creek Road Thursday afternoon. 

No injuries were reported when the truck, driven by Michael Harris, 52, of Philadelphia, struck the wires just after 1 p.m., according to Toms River Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy. 

Harris was driving the truck southbound onto Beechtree after turning from Kettle Creek when he "realized his vehicle struck utility wires," Mastronardy said.

Traffic was detoured for "numerous" hours Thursday while repairs were made by utility workers, the chief said.
