Accident At Pathmark Shopping Center; Four Sent To Area Hospitals

Three taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Sunday afternoon accident

One person had to be extricated from a car following a 3 p.m. accident on Sunday at the intersection of Route 571 and Green Drive in Toms River.

Four people were taken to area hospitals as a result of the accident, police said.

Florence Charitos, 59, of Toms River was driving eastbound on Route 571 when her 2010 Nissan collided with a 2001 Mitsubishi that was making a left turn into the shopping center from Route 571 westbound, according to police.

Dane Dasano, 27, of Toms River was attempting to make the left turn, police said. A passenger in his car, Goldie Jones, 33, of Lakewood, had to be extricated from the car by , said.  

Dasano and Jones along with Dionysios Charitos, a passenger in the Nissan, were transported by Toms River Police EMS to Jersey Shore Medical Center. Charitos was taken by the Holiday City at Berkeley First Aid Squad to Community Medical Center, police said.

Traffic Safety Officer Robert Westfall is investigating the accident along with Officer Ken Thomas and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.
