Philly Woman Charged with Credit Card, Identity Theft in Toms River

Neptune victim had cards stolen

A Philadelphia woman is charged with credit card theft and identity theft, in incidents within Monmouth and Ocean counties, police said.

A Monmouth County grand jurdy handed up an indictment against Charlotta Abbott of Philadelphia, Penn. on May 29, charging her with multiple counts of credit card theft, a fourth-degree crime.

Abbott stole Boscov, JC Penney and Sears credit cards in Neptune, according to the indictment.

She then used the cards in Neptune and Toms River on Oct. 25, according to the indictment, shopping at stores such as Advanced Auto Parts in Neptune and Macy's in Toms River, charging $500 in sales there and other locations.

The identity theft amounts to a loss of $2,000 for the victim, according to the indictment, as Abbott pretended she was the Neptune resident in order to fraudalently use the credit cards.
