Police Blotter: 18-Year-Old Found With Cocaine, Handgun and Marijuana

Police investigating Route 9 hit and run, theft at Quick Discount Lube and Carwash

arrested Jeron Smith, 18, of Gladney Avenue, Toms River, charging him with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute. 

The police Special Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at his residence after a month-long investigation. Police siezed 43 grams of cocaine, one-half pound of marijuana and a handgun, Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said in a prepared news release.

Smith, who was lodged in the on $175,000 bail with no 10 percent, also has an outstanding warrant from Horry County, South Carolina for drug-related charges.

Officers Duncan MaCrae, Dan Brennan, and Detectives Louis Santora and Brian Lomer assisted in the investigation.

Hit and Run at Route 9 and Silverton Road

 Officer Mathew Broderick is investigating a hit and run accident that occurred just after midnight on Saturday at the intersection of Route 9 and Silverton Road. 

A witness observed a silver colored vehicle traveling southbound on Route 9 leave the roadway and strike both a No Stopping or Standing sign and a fire hydrant before swerving back onto the roadway. The vehicle then stopped, went in reverse and struck a utility pole. The vehicle fled south on Route 9 with significant damage to both the front and rear of the vehicle. 

Theft of Carwash Hose

Toms River Police are investigating a theft from Quick Discount Lube and Carwash on Thursday at 10:12 p.m. 

Security video shows a white male wearing a white shirt/jacket and baseball cap exited his truck, walked up to a vacuum hose, cut it, then got back in his vehicle and left the area. 

The vehicle is a small, white truck with tinted windows, a white cap over the bed and two ladders on top. Officer James Skripko is investigating the theft of the 20-foot red vacuum hose.
