Police responded to calls for stolen de-icer and lost ATVs throughout the week

Feb. 27
A Toms River resident reported to Lacey Township Patrolman Della Sala that he lost
his 2006 Honda ATV valued at $2,700 somewhere between Bamber Lake and Toms River while transporting the quad. The ATV was recovered by the Toms River Police Department on Feb. 28 in Toms River. The quad was not stolen, reported Lacey  Township Lieutenant James Veltri.

Feb. 26

Toms River Officer Adam Koeppen was at the intersection of Fischer Blvd and Route 37 at 3:30 a.m.  Saturday when he observed a vehicle traveling at an unsafe speed.  The 2000 Hyundai was attempting to turn onto Fischer but struck the curb and then the traffic stanchion.  Melissa Scott, 24, of Toms River, was not injured in the accident but was charged with driving under the influence and operating a unregistered vehicle, said Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Feb. 23

Toms River Police are investigating the theft of a Kasco brand de-icer and  thermostat from the bulkhead of a lagoon residence on Windsor Avenue during the last week, Mastronardy said. Officer Graham Borg is investigating the theft, valued at more than $600.

Feb. 20

Bill Williams, 51, of Toms River was arrested in Lacey Township after an alleged hit and run accident, Officer John Simonson reported. A resident on Lakeside Drive South reported a hit and run accident at 4 p.m. The resident’s mailbox was struck and the vehicle continued, reported Lacey Township Lieutenant James Veltri. Simonson and Officer Vince Meehan investigated the accident and charged Williams with DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and failure to report an accident. The repair costs are yet to be determined.


Feb. 18
Lacey Township Police arrested Jacquelyn Kadeg, 21, of Lavallette, Ashley Alvino,
21, of Toms River, and Shannon Knoke, 30, of South Toms River and charged them with shoplifting at Walmart in Lacey, reported Lacey Township Lieutenant James Veltri. The three females were accused of allegedly shoplifting $250 worth of merchandise, including makeup and four bottles of Similac. Alvino and Kadeg were released on summonses. Knoke was found to have $450 warrant out of South Toms River and was transported to Ocean County Jail.
