Police Blotter: Purse Snatching, and Radio Shack Theft

Suspects drove off with two 32" TVs

Toms River Police are looking for two black males who reportely stole two 32” LCD televisions from the Radio Shack store in the Tri-City Plaza. Officer Philip Bianco is investigating the theft, reported at 5 p.m. Saturday.  The one suspect is 45, tall, slender with a long goatee wearing a dark blue hoodie; and the other is believed to be in his 20’s, 5’8” wearing a blue hoodie. A customer oberved the suspects remove the Toshiba televisions and reported it to the clerks.  The suspects were seen in two vehicles, according to witnesses: a maroon mini-van with a handicapped placard on the mirror and an older red Chevrolet Blazer.

Woman fled after stealing purse from shopping cart

A Toms River woman had her purse swiped from her shopping cart after she was approached by a woman in the Pathmark parking lot, Route 166 and 571.

Toms River Police Officer Ron Karkovice is investigating the theft of a purse from a shopping cart in the Pathmark Shopping Center 10 a.m. Saturday.  A 84 year old Toms River woman was unloading her shopping cart when a white female, 5’5” tall with dark hair and a wearing a dark jacket, asked if she was done with her cart. The suspect then told the victim she dropped money and when the vicitm looked down the suspect grabbed her purse from the cart and ran. The suspect then got into the driver's side of a tan vehicle and fled the lot. Along with identification and credit cards the purse contained $100.

A Crash into Ortley Beach Restaurant

Ronald Catanese, 65 of Ortley Beach stated that he went to pull into a parking space when he hit the accelerator instead of the brake. His 2001 Chevrolet went over the sidewalk into Antonino’s Reaturant in the Ortley Plaza 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Traffic Safety Officer Terry Warren is investigating the accident in which there were no injuries.  The resturant was closed for renovations.
