Police Blotter: Three Burglaries, a Boat Fire and a Recovered Vehicle

Incidents occurred Friday April 1 in Toms River

Three burglaries were reported in Toms River on April 1. Friday’s police blotter includes the following incidents, according to Police Chief Michael Mastronardy:

A Money Island home was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, police said. Unknown subjects entered through the rear of a home on Main Bayway and removed a man’s gold wedding band, a women’s yellow gold coral ring, a women’s gold and diamond bracelet, a gold necklace with a crucifix and a silver bowl with coins. Investigating are Officers Brian Dugan and Paul Burkhart.

A home off of Washington Street was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday, police said.

Officer Graham Borg, along with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, is investigating a burglary on Cedar Drive where the suspects entered through a rear door and removed $500 from the master bedroom.

In the Green Island section of town, a resident reported today a summer home was burglarized sometime since Dec. 28. Officer Mark Nater and Dan Brennan are investigating the burglary of an Anchorage Drive home, where the suspects may have entered a window to remove a 5 gallon water jug filled with about $3000 in change from the master bedroom.


Toms River Police recovered a 2008 Dodge pickup Friday morning just before noon. The truck was reported stolen out of Sandersville, Georgia on February 22, was found parked by the Toms River Post Office. Mastronardy said a citizen alerted police to the suspicious vehicle.  Officer Chris Leighton is investigating.

 

Toms River Fire Companies 1 & 2 responded to a boat fire at East Water Street in downtown Toms River, between Hooper Avenue and Caldwell Lane, at 5:30 p.m. Friday.  A 35 foot cabin cruiser at the marina was on fire, and Marine Police are investigating with Detective James Magovern and the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention.
