Police Blotter: Unlocked Vehicles Again Targeted

April 21: Pelican Island area thefts, and firefighters respond to two residential calls

Police blotter for April 21 as released by Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy:

  • Three unlocked vehicles were entered on Pelican Island Wednesday night into Thursday morning.  Corporal  Kevin Omelia is investigating the thefts in which the suspects removed a $99 Jabra Bluetooth, a GPS and approximately $8 in change.
 
  • Just before 4:30 p.m. Toms River Police and Pleasant Plains Fire company responded to a structural fire at 21 Roberts Road.  Officer Michael MacDonald arrived on scene and found the homeowner Marcia Soloway outside the home and a smoke condition in the residence.  Investigation by Detective James Magovern and the Fire Prevention Bureau attributed the minor fire to a cigarette in a bathroom garbage can.

 

  • At 7 p.m. Officer Chris Raia responded to a fire at 49 Woodhaven Drive in the Green Island section of the Township.  Silverton Fire Company responded and extinguished the fire and removed the dryer that was damaged during the fire.   There were no injuries and minor water damage as a result of the fire.
