Toms River Police respond to incidents, continue criminal investigation

A 19 year-old was briefly missing near the Normandy Beach beachfront, activating an emergency water search that was called off ten minutes later, police said.

A report of a missing person on the beach around 3 p.m. Monday lead to a water search response from police and fire personnel. Ocean Beach Fire Company responded.

The 19 year-old was found elsewhere on the beach, signaling no emergency response was needed, said Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Burglary Investigations Ongoing

Mastronardy said no arrests have been made and no new suspect details were released regarding reported last week.

In one, a suspect is described as a 5’ 9" man, wearing black clothing, black ski mask and gloves, broke into a Cathedral Court home and stole $10,000 in jewelry.

The man managed to enter a second story bathroom window of a Cathedral Court home, said Mastronardy.

The resident, a 54 year-old woman, awoke at 2 a.m. Wednesday and turned on a light, only to be confronted by the man in her bedroom, Mastronardy said. The suspect fled on foot.

In a second Wednesday burglary, a Clifton Avenue home was broken into between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. An unknown suspect entered through the front door of a Clifton Avenue home, Mastronardy said.  The suspect removed more than $500 in jewelry and $100 in cash.
