Police Dog Helps Track Church Burglary Suspect

20-year-old charged in Route 37 church burglary last week

With the help of Boris, a police dog assigned to K-9 Officer Stephen Eubanks, Toms River police last week were able to track down the man suspected of burglarizing a Route 37 church.

Police responded to a burglary call at the Church of Nazarene on Wednesday, Feb. 20, when a witness said that a man fled on foot from the building toward the WaWa on Route 37 and Oak Ridge Parkway, said Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

Boris and Eubanks were able to track the suspect, Christopher Camargo, 20, to his Oak Ridge Parkway home, the chief said.

"Detectives Mark Bajada, Chris Fluck and Thomas Dimichele, then following up on the investigation, were able to sign complaints for the church burglary," Mastronardy said.

Police recovered a computer stolen from the church and also found property taken in January from a Foxwood Drive residence in the township's Silver Ridge section, the chief said.

Camargo was charged with burglary and is being lodged in the Ocean County Jail on $75,000 bail with no 10 percent option, according to Mastronardy.
