UPDATE: Prosecutor, Police Investigating Toms River Man's Fatal Drug Overdose

Victim found not breathing at 3 a.m. Sunday morning, police chief says


Toms River police and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the apparent drug overdose death of a Pinta Court man on Sunday, Police Chief Michael G. Mastronardy said.

Officers responded to a medical call at 3 a.m. Sunday and found a 40-year-old Toms River man not breathing as a result of a drug overdose, the chief said.

The man was later pronounced dead. Detective John Bajcie, Patrolman Ronald Bayer, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department will continue the investigation, Mastronardy said.
