Update: Man Treated For Stab Wound Was Not Shot, Police Say

Knife has not been recovered

5:16 p.m. Update.

Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said no shooting took place in regards to the incident on Brandon Road early Sunday morning.

The Silverton First Aid Squad transported a 42-year-old man from the scene to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was treated for a stab wound.

The victim, who police did not identify, was treated and released, according to the chief.

No knife has been recovered and the incident is still under investigation. No new information is expected to be released until Monday, Mastronardy said.

Police reported that a 42-year-old man arrived home early Sunday morning highly intoxicated and caused a disturbance. When approached by a 35-year-old male neighbor to keep the noise down there was a confrontation before both parties went to their respective homes, the chief said.

Police later learned a 42-year-old man called police indicating he was shot in the groin 30 minutes after the incident occurred.

Sergeant Raymond Maloney, Officer Kyle Martucci and Detective Alex Scherer are investigating the incident.
