Police Investigating Fatal Shooting Report In Beachwood; Officer Reportedly Involved

Shooting may have taken place in the area of the High Velocity Sports Bar and Grill

Police were investigating reports of a fatal shooting at the High Velocity Sports Bar and Grill in Beachwood on Thursday night.

Jersey Shore Hurricane News reported that a police officer was involved in the shooting; the police officer was reportedly fine.

The parking lot of the sports bar was blocked off near Route 166 early Friday morning. Beachwood police, the Ocean County Criminal Investigations Unit and Beachwood Fire Company personnel were on the scene.

Police tape was stretched across the empty parking lot and the lights were off inside the sports bar.

Authorities at the scene referred all questions to Ocean County Executive Assistant Prosecutor Michel Paulhus. Paulhus could not be reached for comment early this morning.

don toms river the police are taught to aim for the widest part of the body to stop someone, not try to be john wayne and shoot the gun from thier hand as that can get you killed, this is not a movie. the officer did what he thaught was right at the split second.

You have to be kidding you have a split second decision his life or yours lets just wait and see if he shoots at me. I bet if he was aiming at one of your kids you would want the policeman to fire or wait a minute let me shoot him in the leg and after he falls he shoots your kid anyhow and maybe the officer. If your carrying a gun illegally and a policeman says to drop it its real simple drop it. This guy signed his own death certificate .

Think about it ,why would he be in a bar with a gun in New Jersey? In the south we leave our guns at home when we go into a bar. Great harm can can come to a man by bringing a gun to a bar.

There are several reasons police are trained to shoot at the torso. First it is most likely to stop the suspect. It is also a bigger target than an arm or leg. Second a shot to an arm or leg is likely to go through and hit someone or something else.
