Police are investigating the theft of a piece of heavy equipment valued at $50,000 from a Toms River wholesale store.
The equipment, a 1994 yellow Caterpiller loader owned by Arnold and Sons, was taken from the Route 37 BJ's Wholesale Club parking lot where it was stored and used for winter snow operations, said Chief of Police Michael Mastrodnardy.
A key would be needed to operate the equipement, according to the chief. It apparently was taken Friday night or Saturday morning.
Anyone who has information on the theft is asked to contact Capt. Bruce Burgess at 732-349-1050, ext. 1200. Police have provided a photo of the unit, pictured here.
