Police: Late Night Car Break-ins Continue

Incidents again involved unlocked vehicles

Toms River Police added four incidents this weekend to the growing list of break-ins to unlocked vehicles police are investigating.

Between midnight and 5 a.m. on Friday, police responded to four thefts from unlocked vehicles, said Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy. This time, the incidents were on Lilac, Aster and Dallas Drive off Old Freehold Road near Toms River High School North.

The items stolen from the vehicles were popular items for thieves: iPods and money.

"The suspects took small amounts of change and black Apple iPod, a white Nano iPod from cars," said Mastronardy.

The string of break-ins comes not long after another late night report of items stolen from unlocked vehicles.

On , three unlocked vehicles were entered on Pelican Island where the suspects removed a $99 Jabra Bluetooth, a GPS and approximately $8 in change.
