Police Respond to Call of Man Stealing Scrap Metal Out of Trash Bin

Toms River man issued summons in Lacey township

A Toms River man was issued a summons after he allegedly was found stealing scrap metal from a trash bin.

Lacey Township Police Lieutenant James Veltri said a special complaint summons was issued to Patrick Cornelius, 22, of Toms River on July 9.

Police responded to a report of a male and female stealing recyclables and scrap metal from resident’s trash bins on Central Lake Drive in the Forked River section of Lacey on July 9, Veltri said.

Piping, wiring, and scrap metal have been stolen from various locations in Lacey Township over the course of several months.

Scrap metal theft was also reported in Lacey in April, when three Brick men were arrested after police say they broke in to Lacey Nursing and Rehabilitation on Lacey Road in Forked River and stole scrap metal.
